What to Expect
Your First Visit
Your first visit begins with a consultation about your symptoms, goals and expectations. The StemWave device may then be moved over the treatment area to help identify the locations that are most sensitive or responsive. Once those areas are identified, treatment is focused there. The treatment itself can typically be completed in less than 10 minutes.
Follow-up Treatments
StemWave is generally used as a course of care rather than a one-time treatment. The material provided by StemWave describes common care plans of approximately 8-12 sessions, with the exact plan based on the patient's condition, goals and response to treatment.
Does Treatment Hurt?
Healthy tissue may produce little sensation. Areas of damaged tissue or inflammation can be more sensitive, so some patients may experience manageable discomfort while the provider treats those locations. Tell the provider what you are feeling so treatment can be adjusted as needed.
After Your Treatment
Follow the individualized instructions provided by the office. The StemWave after-care material recommends allowing time for recovery and avoiding strenuous activity for roughly 24-48 hours when directed by the provider. It also advises patients to discuss ice, heat, pain medication and other post-treatment choices with their provider rather than automatically adding them after treatment.
